- Our design process begins with active listening and initial dialogue between the owner and the design team. The goal is to design buildings that reflect the unique characteristics of both the location and the function while providing comfortable, efficient and professional environments for the people and customers who use them.Each project is a long-term commitment for Don Knighton Architect and the Consultant Team. Working closely with the owner to understand the needs for the project, we help them make informed economic choices for their facility. Preliminary systems evaluation (value-engineering) provides a sound basis for those economic choices. Working closely with all design team members, we stay ‘hands-on’ until the project is completed by preparing carefully coordinated construction documents and observing construction through completion of the project. Construction site observation is provided at regular intervals by the project team to achieve optimum quality of the finished facility.Our project management process includes owner and design team quality management reviews and consultant coordination, budget management, monthly reporting, and scheduling for design and construction. Up-front translation of the dialogue into a graphic presentation (modeling) produces a visualization of form and function for owner review prior to the production of construction documents.
